File - Discount Matrix

Use this option to maintain the Discount Matrix master file in MDS. A discount matrix is a table of up to 299 product discount categories. Each discount matrix can be applied to one or many customers as required so Micronet automatically discounts the default sell price during invoicing.

This table provides an example of a discount matrix showing the discount categories assigned to product categories for pens:

This table shows the discounts applied for each category:

These tables show that Wollongong City Council would receive a 5% discount off their normal list price for any pens purchased because:

• all the pens are assigned to category 04
• Wollongong City Council receives a 5% discount for category 04.

Technical Tip An alternative method of setting up customer discounts is to use contract pricing – refer to "File - Debtors Contract Pricing".
